Ethics to consider as an Astrologer

Astrology is often criticized as being fake, misleading, or practiced by charlatans. The advantage of being in this field is that this tends to melt away the more experience an Astrologer obtains. When someone comes to an Astrologer, they may share deeply personal parts of their life, so this creates a responsibility.

If we want Astrology to be treated as a serious practice, then Astrologers should hold themselves to ethical standards Listen up if you are new to Astrology or if you have begun to study for yourself.

This is a Code of Ethics for Astrologers

1) Do no harm

Astrology should help people understand their lives, not scare them. No doom chart interpretations!

2) The chart is about the client, not the Astrologer

Our personal experiences and opinions should not become someone else's interpretation

3) Respect different beliefs

A client does not need to share our religion, spirituality, politics, or personal beliefs to receive a respectful reading

4) Don't speak in absolutes

Astrology can show patterns and possibilities. It does not remove a person's free will. To me, anyway, this can be up for debate

5) Don't create dependency

A client should never feel like they need an Astrologer to make every decision

6) Respect privacy

What someone shares during a reading should remain private, unless the client wants to share their experience, with written permission

7) Know your limits

Astrologers are not doctors, lawyers, therapists, or financial advisors unless separately qualified in those fields. Make sure your clients understand this and have appropriate disclaimers or waivers in place

The client's choices belong to them; we don't get to decide how someone should live their life

9) Boundaries

Set strong personal boundaries and be careful with hugs, gifts, and personal attachment. A professional relationship can still be warm and compassionate without crossing personal boundaries.

This protects both you and the client

If we want our work to be taken seriously, we should take the responsibility that comes with it seriously too..
